‘Song Sparrow’ animation wins at Andaras Traveling fest

The 2021 Andaras Traveling Filmfest in Italy awards Iranian animation ‘Song Sparrow’.

Iranian animation ‘Song Sparrow’ has grabbed the Best Animation award at the 2021 Andaras Traveling Film Festival in Italy.

Produced, written, and directed by Farzaneh Omidvarnia, the short animation is about a group of refugees in search of a better life in another place.

They pay someone to smuggle them across the border in a fridge truck.

However, the freezing temperature of the truck turns their hopes for a better future into a fierce struggle for survival.

‘Song Sparrow’ uses puppet animation to tell a tense tale based on an actual event that happened in Austria in 2015.

The animation has previously participated in several international festivals including the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival in the US, the Palencia International Film Festival in Spain, the ValdarnoCinema Film Festival in Italy, the Amarcort Film Festival in Italy, and the Winchester Film Festival in the UK.

The Andaras Traveling Film Festival aims to screen the best of international films to provide a new experience for audience.

The event was held on July 20-25, 2021.
